The Short Version

• Everything you put into Unbettable stays on your phone. We do not have servers that receive it.
• No account, no advertising, no analytics, no tracking, and no data sales.
• Two kinds of outside services are involved: our subscription provider, RevenueCat, which handles purchase records through Apple and Google, and, only on Android while blocking is on, a public DNS service that looks up the non-betting websites you visit.
• You can erase everything at any time with Settings, Reset All Data, or by deleting the app.

This policy explains how the Unbettable app for iPhone and Android ("Unbettable", "we", "us") handles information. It applies to the apps and to this website.

Who We Are

Information That Stays On Your Phone

Unbettable is built so that the sensitive parts of your recovery never leave your device. The following is stored only on your phone, and we never receive it:

• Your quiz answers, your estimated monthly losses, and your currency.
• Your Receipt: the totals, dates, and names of betting companies found in a statement you import.
• Your quit dates, streak, slips, urges you rode out, If-Then Plans, goal, savings you marked as banked, reminders, and which defenses you completed.
• Your accountability partner's name and phone number, if you add one.

Statements You Import

When you import a CSV statement, Unbettable reads it on your phone, keeps the betting totals it finds, and does not keep a copy of the file. The statement is never uploaded anywhere.

Device Backups

On iPhone, Unbettable's data is included in your device backup (iCloud or your computer) so a restored phone keeps your progress. That backup is controlled by you and Apple under Apple's terms. On Android, Unbettable excludes its data from cloud backup and device transfer, so it exists only on that phone.

Information Handled By Others

Subscriptions (Apple, Google, RevenueCat)

Payments are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never see your card or payment details. To know whether your subscription is active, Unbettable uses RevenueCat, Inc. RevenueCat receives a random identifier created for your installation, your purchase and subscription status, store transaction details, your country and currency, basic device information such as operating system version, and your IP address as part of the connection. It does not receive any of your recovery data. See the RevenueCat privacy policy.

Blocking On iPhone

Blocking uses Apple's Screen Time framework. The apps and sites you choose to block are stored as encrypted tokens that even Unbettable cannot read, and blocking is enforced by iOS on your device.

Blocking On Android

When blocking is on, Unbettable runs a local VPN on your phone. It does not route your traffic to us. It only handles website name lookups (DNS): lookups for betting sites are blocked on your phone, and all other lookups are sent directly from your phone to a public DNS service, Cloudflare (1.1.1.1), or Google (8.8.8.8) if Cloudflare is unavailable. Those services see the website names you look up, as any DNS service would, under the Cloudflare and Google resolver policies. Unbettable never receives or stores your browsing.

If you turn on app blocking, Unbettable uses Android's usage access to check which app is open, only so it can show the block screen over a betting app you chose. This check happens on your phone and is not recorded or sent anywhere.

Messages To Your Partner

When you choose to text your partner, Unbettable opens your own messaging app with a suggested message. You decide whether to send it. We never see it.

Sharing Your Receipt

"Share My Receipt" creates an image on your phone and hands it to the share sheet. Betting company names are left out unless you turn them on. Where it goes is up to you.

Notifications And Helplines

Reminders are scheduled locally on your phone. There is no push server. Helpline buttons open your phone dialer, and links to self-exclusion services open in your browser under those services' own policies.

What We Do Not Do

• We do not show ads or use advertising identifiers.
• We do not include analytics, tracking, or data broker software.
• We do not sell or share personal data for advertising.
• We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, or browsing history.

This Website

This website uses no cookies, no analytics, and no third-party fonts or scripts. To show amounts in your local currency, the site asks our host for the country your connection comes from; the answer is used on the page and is not stored. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, such as IP address and pages requested, for security and reliability.

Legal Bases

Where data protection laws such as the GDPR, UK GDPR, or Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019 apply, we rely on performance of a contract to provide your subscription, and on our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and working. Data that stays on your phone is processed by you, on your device.

Retention And Deletion

Data on your phone lasts until you use Settings, Reset All Data, or delete the app. Subscription records are kept by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat for as long as needed to manage purchases and meet legal and tax obligations. To ask for RevenueCat records linked to your installation to be deleted, contact us and include your purchase receipt.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or move your personal data, to object to or restrict its use, and to complain to a regulator, such as the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner in Kenya, the Information Commissioner's Office in the United Kingdom, or your local authority in the EU. California residents have rights under the CCPA; we do not sell or share personal information. Because your recovery data never reaches us, most requests concern only subscription records. Write to __CONTACT_EMAIL__ and we will respond within 30 days.

International Transfers

RevenueCat is based in the United States. Where data is transferred internationally, it is protected by the safeguards described in RevenueCat's policy, such as standard contractual clauses.

Security

Your data is protected by your phone's own encryption and screen lock. Keeping your device locked is the strongest protection for your recovery data.

Age

Unbettable is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

Changes

If we change how Unbettable handles data, we will update this page and the effective date above, and tell you in the app before any change that affects what leaves your phone.
